Meet your Designer

I’m Mary Kathrine Focht—friends and clients call me Katie—and I’m the founder and principal designer of MK Interiors, a boutique interior design studio specializing in timeless, livable luxury.

In 2019, my husband Eric and I relocated from Sammamish, Washington to the Eagle/Boise area with our two children, Brody and Shelby. Since then, we’ve embraced the community, the natural beauty of Idaho, and the opportunity to build the home we once only dreamed about.

Interior design has always been my passion. Long before I turned it into a business, it was a creative refuge—refining our fixer-upper, helping friends transform their homes, and bringing beauty and purpose to everyday spaces. I often told my kids, “Find what you love and figure out how to make a living at it.” Eventually, I took my own advice—and MK Interiors was born.

Today, I design custom residences that reflect not just a sense of style, but a sense of self. From full-service new builds to bespoke furnishings and styling, I guide clients through every phase of the design process with vision, clarity, and an intuitive understanding of how they want to live in their homes.

My work has been featured by McGee & Co., Pottery Barn, Rowe, and Home Bunch, to name a few. I am honored to have received the Best of Boise Award in both 2023 and 2025 and be recognized among Idaho’s Top 10 Interior Designers.
