My name is Mary Kathrine Focht (friends and clients call me Katie) and I’m the owner and sole interior designer for MK Interiors. My husband Eric and 2 kids Brody and Shelby moved from Sammamish Washington to the Eagle/Boise area in 2019, and it’s been a whirlwind immersing ourselves into the community, kids sports, and activities, enjoying the outdoors and building the home of our dreams.

I took the plunge starting my interior design business when I finally took my own advice I always gave my kids, “find something you love to do, and figure out a way to make a living at it.” Interior design was always my creative outlet. It’s what I did after a long workday, whether it was transforming our old fixer-upper or helping friends and family with their homes. I loved taking something that wasn’t much to look at and making it into something beautiful. Creating a home thatwas both inviting and special gave me immense joy. I was always told “You missed your calling” for not making it a career. I decided to finally pursue my passion, and it was the best decision I EVER made.

Starting from our fixer-upper to designing our dream home and now having designed several dream homes for my clients from the ground up, I’ve learned invaluable lessons along the way. The experience gave me the confidence to navigate through each phase of the design process, and finding just the right furniture and styling pieces to make or break a space. Never underestimate the power of a solid pillow game!

I felt an amazing sense of validation by following my passion when recently winning the 2023 Best Of Boise Award for my Interior Design Business and rated in the top 10 for Idahos Best Interior Designers. Having my work featured by McGee & Co, Pottery Barn, Home Bunch, Rowe and others has been the cherry on top to making my passion a career. I’m extremely grateful for the amount of interest, support, and referrals that have come my way in such a short amount of time.

I’ve met and worked with some of the most amazing people, and so thankful they entrusted me with their sacred spaces. I truly LOVE what I do. I get to transform a house into a home, creating a personal sanctuary where a family loves to come back to. Where you entertain, decompress, make memories and create traditions.
